I’ve shared my story in my workshops for several years. Many have encouraged and even implored me to release it as a book. Now is the time to answer their requests. It’s exciting and at the same time, a bit daunting. It’s based on a true story; my struggles and victories as I tried to find my path to freedom from the effects of childhood trauma. I’m not an extrovert, but this is a bigger calling, one that has required me to step out of my comfort zone in a big way — so that’s what I am doing. I hope my book brings you as much awareness, compassion, joy, and love as I experienced writing it.

Based on her inspirational true story, professional flutist Maria Kostelas was a self-proclaimed skeptic, but by the end of her journey, she knew she had found a path to freedom from the effects of childhood trauma. From the age of three, Maria’s world instantly changed from one of safety, innocence and love, to one of fear, isolation and mistrust. At times the confusion, and the emotional and physical pain was so severe, she wasn’t sure she was alive or dead. Maria’s courage and perseverance led her to destinations all over the world and eventually to a passion that would come full circle as it fulfilled a lifelong search for purpose.
